The ninth Tolkien Mailing Competition, happening in this academic year, is also the second one to have an international category, called Quendi. For more details, check out the announcement of this competition and the final report of the previous one.

This year we received 29 applications in the Quendi category from Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States. Sadly, many of the applicants found the competition too time-consuming and gave up during the first round: we hope they can join us next year with more success. Still, it is amazing that we could reach so many interested people all around the world. And for this achievement we are grateful to all those friends who shared the news of the competition. We might have missed some (point it out so we can add them to the list!) but we saw the news of the upcoming competition spread by The Tolkien Society, the Czech, Finnish, French, Indonesian, Iranian, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Spanish and Spanish-speaking Tolkien Societies and/or Pages, and also by last year's winner and The Tolkienist. Thank you!

Besides saying thank you, it is also time to tell about the results of the first round.

So: who has the best scores so far?
1. Mirach
2. Eimeria
3. Mirwa
4. Nairalin
5. Eruantalon

As this year it is possible to choose to do only the quiz or only the creative part of the tasks, I have to add that in the quiz part Nairalin achieved the third place (sharing it with Mirwa if I do not count the fraction points), and in the creative part Nuzarkhem did so (also sharing it with Mirwa after loosing some points for being late).
